THE STORY
In the frozen shadows of Vardø, Norway—where the sun vanishes for a month and legends never sleep—journalist Mitchell Thomsen returns home to confront a haunting from his past. Drawn back by a childhood encounter with a mysterious phantom, he finds a desolate town swallowed by darkness, plagued by strange visions, and watched over by a military presence that raises more questions than answers.
As Mitchell digs into the writings of a Sámi man named Arvid Poulsen, the centuries-old Vardø witch trials resurface—and reality begins to slip. Locals whisper about a cursed drink called akkevit, said to reveal the truth… or drive the drinker into the sea forever.
With the help of an old friend, a reclusive author, and a rare book dealer obsessed with the occult, Mitchell must navigate the thin line between history and horror before the secret stalking him finally steps out of the dark.
