Nosferatu: Behind The Horror And Death TP
Count Orlok, the plague ship, the shadow climbing the stairs. Marco Fontanili goes behind the horror and death of F.W. Murnau's 1922 Nosferatu, the film that stole a story, lost in court, nearly vanished, and became immortal anyway, in a full-length illustrated edition.
SEE IT ON LUNAR ›Some monsters are invented. This one was stolen, sued over, and nearly erased, and it outlived everyone who tried to kill it. In 1922 F.W. Murnau filmed an unauthorized Dracula, changed the names, and gave us Count Orlok: rat-faced, rigid, climbing a staircase as a shadow. Stoker's estate won in court and ordered every print destroyed. A few survived. That is why you still know exactly what a vampire is supposed to look like.
Nosferatu: Behind The Horror And Death is Marco Fontanili's book-length reckoning with that ghost: the making of the film, the myth it built, and the century of dread it set loose, told across 176 pages in a sideways landscape format of evolving art. Fontanili already proved he can carry long-form horror on art alone with The Witchmaster of Norway; here he turns that same eye on the granddaddy of them all.
Here is the part that matters for getting a copy: comics and graphic novels are ordered before they are printed, and the Final Order Cutoff, or FOC, is the last day your retailer can lock in what they bring to the shelf. Nosferatu is on Lunar now as code 1026MP1020, and the cutoff is Monday, October 26. The move is simple: walk in, call, or email your local shop and ask them to add it to your pull list before then. The book hits shelves December 16.
